We’ve answer some of the most commonly asked questions we get about installation and operation of our whole house water filter systems in Thailand. If you can’t get the answer you need here, simply get in touch.
A standard water filter typically removes only physical particles like dirt and rust (sediment) and sometimes chemicals (carbon). The BIG F PRO is a complete Water Purification System. It combines 3 essential stages:
Filtration: Removes sand, rust, and dirt (20-micron).
Treatment: Reduces chlorine, taste, and odors (5-micron Carbon).
Disinfection: Uses a powerful UV-C lamp to actively kill 99.99% of bacteria and viruses. Result: Unlike a simple filter, the BIG F PRO makes your water biologically safe to drink, not just clearer to look at.
We often forget that we absorb water through our skin and inhale water vapor while showering.
Health: Chlorine and volatile chemicals vaporize in hot showers and can be inhaled.
Skin & Hair: Chlorine can dry out skin and hair. Purified water feels softer and is gentler on sensitive skin.
Hygiene: Brushing your teeth or washing your face with water containing bacteria can lead to illness. A whole-house system ensures every drop—whether for drinking, bathing, or laundry—is safe.
Yes we do.
No, the BIG F PRO series are “High Flow” systems designed specifically for whole-house applications, ensuring you maintain strong pressure in your showers.
Model 256 (Standard): Perfect for most standard family homes (flow rates up to 70 Liters/minute).
Model 267 (High Output): The most powerful option, designed for large luxury homes or high-usage families with multiple bathrooms (flow rates up to 95 Liters/minute). Both models use large 20-inch filters to minimize pressure drop and extend the time between filter changes.
Our systems connects to a wall outlet like other electrical appliances. The systems should always be connected to a dedicated wall outlet protected by a GFI (ground fault interrupter) /RCD. In areas that experience significant power fluctuation, we recommend the use of a surge protector.
A UV-lamp has a lifetime of 365 days of continuous use. After that, the UV-light intensity starts to diminish and it is no longer able to effectively disinfect the water. It is very important to replace the UV-lamp every 365 days to ensure that your water is still safe to drink. Our Whole Home Systems have a sophisticated control unit that will let you know the status of the system. It tells you how many days are left until lamp replacement and will give you a visual and audible alarm when the the lamp life is due to replacement.
The BIG F PRO is designed for easy maintenance:
Pre-Filters (Sediment & Carbon): Replace every 5 to 12 months, depending on how dirty your incoming water is. (You can check the pressure gauges; a drop in pressure means it’s time to change).
UV Lamp: Replace once a year.
Quartz Sleeve: This is the glass tube protecting the lamp. It should be cleaned (wiped down) when you change the lamp to ensure the light can pass through clearly.
Municipalities work very hard to provide safe water for their customers. In some areas, the water leaving the treatment plant is considered safe to drink. However, that water then moves through a vast distribution system that in many cases is aged and can lead to contaminations. The water that then reaches your home is often far from safe to drink. A UV Disinfection System gives you and your family peace of mind and is a very affordable insurance policy against the possibility of coming in contact with water contaminated with microbes.
Yes you can. However, in many areas of Thailand, well-water means hard water or a lot of iron, manganese or other substances in the water. In these cases we always recommend our customers to speak to us, our local partner or another local water treatment company first to get accurate information about water quality in the local area and advice on whether additional treatment is needed before installing the system.
No. The systems can be installed without a water pump if the mains water pressure is high enough in your area. However, most of our customers already have a pump installed or choose to install one to get better water pressure in the house.
